Jung Joon-won recently met with Sports Chosun and was interviewed at the end of tvN's Saturday-Sunday drama 「Someday, the Life of a Major」 (played by Kim Song-hee, directed by Lee Min-soo, hereinafter Unseuljeon). Jung Joon-won was cast in the `Unseuljeon' after auditioning for the first season of 'Seul-saeng'. He also read several auditions of "Unseuljeon", and the reading was conducted mainly by Koo Won's lines. I auditioned in season 1, and I wasn't casted at the time, but I didn't audition from the beginning with the role of Koo Do-won, and I thought so because I didn't have many male roles my age, I auditioned for other auditions and as a leading actor's ambassador, but I didn't think I would give him the role of Koo Do-won. When I first received the script, I read it with the thought of 'Do you want me to do this?'
Jung Joon-won said "The script I received before casting did not say that Go Gu-won and Oi-young (Ko Yoon-jung) were doing well, but it was only possible to infer something. It was so good (to know that it was connected), but I was very worried. I'm a person who is good at self-objectification, so I'll understand if the role changes (with Oh Yi-young), but I wondered if the viewers could understand that Oh likes Koo Won. At that time, I asked the early director 'Is this going to be okay?' and the director cheered me a lot. Do it with confidence. I thought the character itself was a fantasy-like character as I acted. How can there be such a person. At first, I didn't think so, but the character itself is unrealistically made into a cool person, so I thought I could persuade him if I could pull it off well."
While the love line of 'Unseuljeon' was loved by some viewers, it was also criticized by others as 'The Picture is Different'. In response to this, Jung Joon-won said, "(The controversy over appearance) was a problem I had been expecting even before it started, and of course, I was sure that it would come out. I didn't feel bad when I heard that, and I thought you would think like this. Nevertheless, it should be done with the expectation and confidence that this public opinion can clearly change. If I don't, what would I do. I thought the character would have the power to give, so I believed in it and waited. "If there are people who like it, there are people who don't like it..." he explained.
In particular, the eight-year age difference between Ko Yoon-jung and Jung Joon-won was also a hot topic. Jung Joon-won said "YEJI and I are more than 12 years old. Basically, when filming this work, the biggest goal was to get to know these friends quickly. It can be uncomfortable if you have a senior like me. I thought I shouldn't be seen as such a person, so I thought it would be better for the kids to think of me as a pushover. We remained friends without fail. I got close quickly because I thought I'd hate it if I couldn't read the room and talk about it, and Yoon-jung came up with a lot of ideas and discussed it without any problems. "
In addition, Jung Joon-won said of Ko Yoon-jung "He was a really perfect partner. Do-won is confident that Lee Young-yi's reaction has created it all. I was also surprised while filming. Thank you for acting and telling me with a truly loving look at Dowon. I learned a lot, I learned a lot, I was the best colleague."
Unseuljeon, which ended with the 12th episode on the 18th, is a spin-off drama about the development of residents who dream of becoming doctors. Jung Joon-won formed a love line with Oi-young (Ko Yoon-jung) by playing Gu Dong-won, a major in the play.
