The Blue Dragon Series Awards, which mark its fourth anniversary this year, are the first awards ceremony in Korea hosted by Sports Chosun for streaming series contents. It is expected to be a meaningful place to look deeply into the current and future of K-content among original dramas, entertainment, and cultural programs released through domestic and international streaming platforms over the past year.
The Blue Dragon Series Awards were planned as a professional awards ceremony that encompasses works from major streaming platforms such as Netflix, Disney+, Wave, U+Mobile TV, Genie TV (ENA), Coupang Play, and Tving (in alphabetical order), away from the existing broadcasting company-centered awards framework.
The Blue Dragon Series Awards reflects the trend of streaming content emerging as the center of popular culture, establishing itself as a meaningful festival to look back on the stories and characters that shone through the year. In particular, the impressive moments that are born at the awards ceremony every year raise public expectations and further solidify their status.
As such, the Blue Dragon Series Awards have continued to serve as indicators of the direction of the K-content industry, paying attention to the platforms, producers, artists, and content that lead to changes in the streaming era. This year, it is expected that outstanding works across genres will come together to provide deep resonance and emotion.
