The Seoul Southern District Court's Criminal Department 15 (Chief Judge Yang Hwan-seung) cited Lee's request for bail on the 22nd, who was arrested and charged with violating the Capital Markets Act.
The court granted Lee's bail on the condition of paying KRW 100 million in deposit, submitting a pledge, restricting the residence, reporting in advance when leaving the country, prohibiting contact with related persons, and obligating him to appear in summons. The deposit can be replaced by a guarantee attached to the bail guarantee insurance policy submitted by the spouse.
In May, the prosecution indicted 13 people, including Lee, on charges of violating the Capital Markets Act. Lee and others are accused of taking unfair profits worth a total of 14 billion won by deceiving three KOSDAQ-listed companies that they are pursuing new businesses using high-tech technologies.
Lee is also accused of earning about 5 billion won in unfair profits by participating in the manipulation of the stock price of new and renewable energy company Quantafia, and of receiving 30 million won in advance and 1 billion won in success fees from former prosecution investigator A, saying he would solve Quantafia's transaction when it was suspended in February last year. He is also accused of buying stocks in his child's account using undisclosed information obtained during the merger and acquisition process and earning a market margin of about 100 million won.
Lee denied all charges at the first hearing held in June.
Meanwhile, Lee Seung-gi married Lee Da-in, Kyun Mi-ri's second daughter, in 2023 and has a daughter.
When Lee was arrested and charged in April, he declared that `the trust between the family has been damaged to a level that is difficult to recover due to this incident, and my couple wants to sever their relationship with their in-laws after a long period of consideration.'
