Yu-bin from Wonder Girls thanked 50,000 people for the national petition for the application of health insurance benefits for breast cancer brain metastasis treatment (tucatinib).

On the 12th, Yubin posted "I sincerely thank all those who have gathered their hearts and sent their precious consent to this petition."

He said "Your support and support have been a great help to my family, and a great hope and courage to many patients. And most of all, I could feel my warm heart deeply," he said.

A total of 50,075 people agreed to the petition for applying the health insurance benefits of breast cancer epilepsy treatment, which Yubin encouraged to consent to. According to the National Assembly Act, if more than 50,000 petitions are agreed within 30 days, the petition will be referred to the standing committee under the jurisdiction of the National Assembly.

Earlier on the 1st, Yubin posted as follows: "Sad things happened to my family, who are so precious to me and I love them. My oldest sister was diagnosed with breast cancer in 2020 and has been struggling to treat it until now. Unfortunately, however, it has spread to the brain in 2024, continuing a painful battle from day to day," he said, expressing the sad news.

In the meantime, "Fortunately, I found an effective treatment difficult, but it is too difficult to receive proper treatment due to realistic conditions". "I ask you to help me with my desperate desire to protect my sister even a little bit." This is an important issue not only related to my family's problem, but also to whether breast cancer patients can receive better treatment in the future," he said, asking for consent to the national petition.

Currently, Tuquisa (component name Tucatinib) was approved by the Ministry of Food and Drug Safety in December 2023, but its domestic sales have been delayed indefinitely, so patients in urgent need of treatment are relying on personal income. The cost of the drug amounts to about 30 million won for two months, and although it must be used in combination with other anticancer drugs, it is known that even drugs that were previously covered by insurance are converted to non-benefit, causing a burden of 200 million won in treatment costs per year.

Meanwhile, Yubin debuted as a member of Wonder Girls in 2007 and founded the entertainment agency rrr Entertainment in 2020.
