The 7th Criminal Division of the Seoul High Court will hold an appeals trial on Park Soo-hong's own brother and Lee's brother on charges of embezzlement under the Specific Economic Crimes Weighted Punishment Act on the 17th. The two were charged with siphoning off billions of won in funds from Lael and Media Boom and Park Soo-hong's personal funds while exclusively in charge of Park's management work from 2011 to 2021.
Earlier, the first trial court found Park guilty of embezzling 2 billion won in company funds, but found Park not guilty of stealing 1.6 billion won in personal funds. As a result, Park was sentenced to two years in prison, and Lee was found not guilty on the grounds that it was difficult to prove an accomplice. Both the prosecution and the defendant appealed.
Park Soo-hong's side has complained of unfairness, saying, `The amount of embezzlement recognized by Park and his wife alone is more than 2 billion won.' Park Soo-hong, who appeared in court in person in July last year, lamented that he was using his assets at will on the grounds that he was a family company""I acquired real estate worth 4.3 billion won, but none of them were in my name." This should never happen again."
Regarding the appraisal of the accounting books, the court said it would conclude by compiling opinions submitted by both sides, saying it is difficult to leave it to a professional hearing committee member. He also asked to clarify the innocence of the first trial related to the management of Park Soo-hong's personal account, the process of depositing and monetizing performance fees, and the difference in property formation.
In particular, the court pointed out that `In the case of Park Soo-hong, there is no noticeable increase in assets other than his stake in Magok Shopping Center, but Park and his wife seem to have acquired a number of real estate and increased their financial assets.' `As the source of income was Park Soo-hong's income from entertainment activities, clarify the reason for the wealth gap between the two sides.'
