Yoo Young-jae, his ex-wife, Sunwoo Eun-sook, and his sister were sentenced to two and a half years in prison (Roundup)

Yoo Young-jae, a broadcaster accused of forcibly harassing his ex-wife Sunwoo Eun-sook's biological sister, has been sentenced to prison.

A sentencing hearing was held on the 25th for Yoo Young-jae, who was indicted on charges of violating the Sexual Violence Punishment Act (forced harassment by relatives) at the Supreme Court's third division (Chief Justice Oh Seok-joon). On this day, the court dismissed Yoo Young-jae's appeal and confirmed the original ruling, which sentenced him to two and a half years in prison.

Yoo Young-jae married Sunwoo Eun-sook in 2022, but was accused of forcibly molesting Sunwoo's biological sister five times between March and October 2023. Yoo Young-jae strongly denied the allegation, saying it was a "sign of intimacy", but Sunwoo Eun-sook divorced Yoo Young-jae in April last year.

In January, the first trial court sentenced Yoo Young-jae to two and a half years in prison and arrested him in court. The court said "The defendant claims that there was no forced harassment, but the victim's statements are consistent, unreasonable, or contradictory. It is difficult to see what the victim felt at the time of the crime as a false statement"I judged.

Yoo Young-jae appealed, but the second trial court sentenced him to the same sentence in July. However, the court ruled that it is not reasonable to raise the sentence given that the defendant acknowledges and reflects on all the crimes and is trying to recover the damage by depositing a large amount of money for the victim.

Yoo Young-jae appealed again, but the Supreme Court decided to dismiss the reason for the appeal itself, saying it was inappropriate.
