On the 17th, the Seoul High Court's Criminal Department 11-3 (Chief Judge Kim Young-geun) sentenced Tae-il to three and a half years in prison on charges of violating the Special Act on the Punishment of Sexual Violence Crimes. This is the same sentence as the first trial.
Two accomplices charged together were also sentenced to the same sentence. All three were ordered to complete 40 hours of sexual violence treatment programs and to restrict employment at institutions related to children, adolescents and the disabled for five years.
At the trial on this day, Taeil insisted that the sentence should be reduced because he had embroidered himself and submitted a letter of apology and a petition.
The court stated that the defendant Taeil had not been aware of his involvement in the crime until the search and seizure""Even considering all sentencing factors, such as a letter of apology and a petition from acquaintances, it is difficult to say that the sentence of the lower court is unfair."It was judged.
In the end, both the prosecution and the defendant's appeals were rejected.
Taeil was put on trial in June last year on charges of sexually assaulting a Chinese female tourist who was unable to protest while drunk with two acquaintances.
The first trial court pointed out that "the pain of the victim who was committed in a foreign country seems to have been severe" and "the nature of the crime is very poor in succession of the victims who are unable to resist"."
Meanwhile, Taeil debuted as a member of NCT U and NCT 127 in 2016, but was kicked out of the team after the incident. SM Entertainment, the agency, decided that the matter was so serious that it could not continue its activities"It has officially announced the termination of the exclusive contract.
