According to Money Today on the 26th, Judge Kim Min-jung of the Seoul Western District Court's Criminal Chamber 9 acquitted A, who was accused of defamation under the Information and Communication Network Act, on the 29th of last month. The court judged that it could not be concluded that the disclosure posted by A on the online community was false. In addition, he was assaulted by Mr. A as claimed by Jang Woo-hyukThe content of " was also considered unreliable.
In June 2022, A posted an article on the online community claiming Jang Woo-hyuk's overuse and assault. In the article, Jang Woo-hyuk's real name was not mentioned, but he expressed it as a representative from the first generation of famous idols. Mr. A claimed that Jang Woo-hyuk hit the back of the head with a hand wearing leather gloves in a taxi during an overseas business trip in 2014, and in 2020, the station said that he slapped Mr. A's hand, who was filling the microphone, and swore at him ahead of the performance.
In response, Jang Woo-hyuk countered that the disclosure was groundless and sued A for defamation. In particular, he claimed that A suddenly hit and assaulted his hand in connection with the 2020 incident, which caused him to suffer from stage fright and post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD). The prosecution judged A's alleged assault on the broadcasting station in 2020 as false and indicted him in May 2023.
However, the court judged that the statements of Jang Woo-hyuk's witnesses were inconsistent and that A's statements were specific and natural. Also, Jang Woo-hyuk said to Mr. A, "Why are you making me care so much?", "Make me feel like a punk".", "You're not a kid to be in this place.", "You should be so thankful. It's nothing." It was judged that his remarks should be viewed as verbal abuse. Accordingly, it was concluded that it is difficult to say that A told a falsehood.
The prosecution has appealed against the ruling of the first trial.
