Lee Sang-yoon was selected as Alan Turing in the play 'Turing Machine', which will be performed at the S Theater of the Sejong Center for the Performing Arts in Seoul from January 8 to March 1 next year.
The Turing Machine is a play that takes the life of the English genius mathematician Alan Turing to the stage. 'Turing Machine' was previously recognized for its workability and artistry by winning four major categories at the prestigious Moliere Awards in the French theater industry: Best Writer, Best Comedy, Best Actor, and Best Picture.
In particular, 'Turing Machine' received enthusiastic reviews from the audience and critics for its four-sided stage composition that maximizes the breath of the audience and actors in addition to intelligent and dense performances at the 2023 domestic premiere.
Alan Turing, played by Lee Sang-yoon, is a hidden hero who saved about 14 million lives and shortened the war by deciphering Germany's secret code 'Enigma' during World War II. At the same time, he is known as a pioneer in modern computer science, first presenting the concept of artificial intelligence (AI), and first came up with 'Turing Test', an experiment that determines whether machines have AI.
Lee Sang-yoon has been closely communicating with the audience on stage through a number of works such as 'Last Session', 'Closure', 'Death of a Salesman', and 'Waiting for Godot'. Lee Sang-yoon led the immersion to the highest level by fully assimilating each character, sometimes recalling the true value of life as a head of the depression, and sometimes humorously unraveling the meaning of waiting as an understudy actor.
