The British Telegraph released an interview with Kevin Spacey on the 19th (local time).
Kevin Spacey described his financial position after the sex scandal as "not good".
He "The last seven years have come at astronomical costs. There was very little coming in and all that was going out. I travel between hotels and Airbnb and go to a place where there is work. Literally, he said, "I don't have a home." He confessed that he is living by wandering around the United States and Europe.
He then explained that he is continuing his life far from Hollywood's glamorous lighting, singing and living in a nightclub on the Mediterranean island of Cyprus.
In fact, he also told Piers Morgan in 2024 that Baltimore homes are on the verge of foreclosure due to the legal cost burden. Although the possibility of filing for bankruptcy was mentioned, he said he did not actually go through the process.
Before the sex scandal broke out, Kevin Spacey enjoyed his prime as Frank Underwood in the popular Netflix series 'House of Cards' for $500,000 (about 700 million won) per episode. However, things changed drastically in November 2017, when actor Anthony Rapp claimed that he had been molested by Kevin Spacey in 1986. Since then, due to a series of suspicions, he has been removed from his work ahead of the production of Season 6, and has virtually been unable to step into the industry.
Kevin Spacey said "Over the past seven years, when Hollywood turned a blind eye to me, many people came up and expressed their desire to work with me." But he is still not welcomed by Hollywood. In response, he said "I think what the industry is waiting for is somebody's 'permission' with tremendous respect and authority." Kevin Spacey likened his situation to blacklisting writers, actors and directors for communist sympathies in Hollywood in the 1950s. He said "A lot of the people who were blacklisted at the time were innocent." "If Martin Scorsese or Quentin Tarantino contact me, I think everything will be over"It would be an honor to receive a call from someone of that level of talent. And I believe it will happen.'
Kevin Spacey was tried in the UK on charges of committing sex offences against four men, but was found not guilty on all nine counts. Prior to that, he won a civil trial in the United States. A jury in Manhattan federal court in New York ruled in favor of Spacey in a damage suit filed by Anthony Rapp, the first accuser.
But even after the acquittal, big Hollywood studios are still cautious about Spacey's return. Meanwhile, an audience member who visited a performance hall in Cyprus told the Telegraph: "He was found not guilty. Isn't that enough?", indicating that public opinion is still divided over the controversy surrounding Spacey.
Meanwhile, Kevin Spacey won the Academy Award for Best Supporting Actor for his performance of `Usual Suspects' (1995) and the Academy Award for Best Actor for his performance of `American Beauty' (1999).
