Just nine days before the wedding, a 20-year-old groom ran away with his 40-year-old mother-in-law, which is shocking.

Rahul, 20, and Shivani, a couple living in Aligarh, Uttar Pradesh, India, were scheduled to get married on April 16 (local time), according to local media, including the Navbarat Times.

However, on the 7th, 9 days ago, Rahul, the bride-to-be, and Anita, 40, the mother-in-law, disappeared together.

He fled with 500,000 rupees (about 8.3 million won) worth of jewelry prepared as a gift and 350,000 rupees (about 5.8 million won) in cash in the house.

Shivani, bride-to-be, "I've seen Rahul on the phone frequently with his mother since a month before the wedding."I contacted him too often at night and fought," he said.

The two reportedly turned off their phones and fled to another area.

Shivani says "How can a mother run away with her son-in-law?"'No mother in the world would do such a thing.'"

Anita's husband also said "Even if I find them, I can't live with my wife anymore."

Rahul's father said "My son seems to have black magic. "When I was lying down sick, Anita took care of me for five days, and that's when I saw the talisman," he claimed.

Police said they have identified the area where they fled and will first investigate the theft after arrest.
