Netflix has confirmed the production of the new series 'Scandal' and unveiled the casting lineup of Son Ye-jin, Ji Chang-wook and Nana. The Scandal ' is a Netflix series about a woman who is extremely talented to live in confinement as a woman of the Joseon Dynasty 'Madam Cho' and Joseon's best romantic relationship 'Jo Won', and a woman 'Heeyeon' who is involved in the bet.
'Scandal (tentative)' is based on the 2003 film 'Scandal - Joseon Men's and Women's Sangyeoljisa'. Just before the French Revolution, the film moved Pierre Chouderlo de Laclo 'Dangerous Relationship' to the Joseon Dynasty, where neither love nor temptation was prohibited, depicting a high-ranking French society promiscuous by conspiracy and destruction. It has been praised by the audience for beautifully and irascibly portraying a story stained with fatal temptation, betrayal, and revenge between the aristocrats. Despite the youth rating at the time, 3.52 million was popular, and it adds to the question of how the original work, which was loved for its narrative that captivated the five senses, beautiful costumes and art, will evolve into a Netflix series. 'Scandal (tentative)' is a background of the Joseon Dynasty, when having desire itself was taboo, and it will narrowly portray the stories of those who engage in a rash bet of love and temptation as if challenging a strict Confucian order.
Son Ye-jin, who showed irreplaceable character digestibility in dramas 'Crash Landing on You', 'Pretty Sister Who Buys Me Food ', films 'Classic' and 'I'm Going to Meet You Now', plays the role of Mrs. Cho, who is born a woman and makes a behind-the-scenes love bet against the reality of the times when she can't do anything. 'Mrs. Cho' suggests a temptation bet to 'Jo Won', who adores her, and shows her as the best strategist. Ji Chang-wook will play the role of 'Jo Won', who pursues pleasure and fun rather than rising to the top of Joseon's playboy and public office, through the Netflix series 'Annara Sumanara', the movie 'Revolver', the drama 'Gangnam B-side', 'Welcome to Samdali' and 'Worst Evil'. 'Jo Won' is an attractive man who doesn't believe in love and only enjoys dating, and jumps in by any means to win the heart of 'Mrs. Cho'. Nana, who showed her unrivaled presence regardless of genre, including the Netflix series 'Mask Girl', 'Glitch', the movie 'Confession', and 'Kun', played the role of 'Heeyeon' who tries to cut off 'Jon' approaching her while living with her husband's love. 'Joyeon' is a character who tries to hold himself together but is shaken by unknown emotions toward 'Jo Won', and shows a complex inner side that is increasingly attracted to him.
On the other hand, director Jung Ji-woo, who is the representative director of Korean films that directed the films 'Yu-yeol's music album' and 'Happy End' and has provided newness across genres, including Netflix 'Somebody'. Director Jung Ji-woo, who has been highlighting subtle emotional lines, psychology and dangerous relationships between characters and maximizing the attractiveness of actors in each work, is expected to draw 'scandal (tentative)'. On top of that, writer Lee Seung-young and writer Ahn Hye-song, who were in charge of the adaptation of `Somebody,' will participate in the play together, and Movirak, who showed various genres of works such as films 'pilot', 'Cheongseol', 'Yuyeol's music album', 'Witness', and 'Youth Police', will add credibility.
Along with the confirmation of the production, 「Scandal」, which draws expectations with the different chemistry presented by Son Ye-jin, Ji Chang-wook, and Nana, will be released only on Netflix.
