'Necessary for this star' is a new film directed by Han Ji-won, who received attention at domestic and international film festivals by winning the Seoul Indian Festival Grand Prize 'Indie Star' for the film 'Kopyruwak'. In particular, Kim Tae-ri and Hong-kyung will act as voices to add vitality to the romance sentiment.
Set in Seoul in 2050, the work depicts a romance between Nanyoung, an astronaut dreaming of exploring Mars, and Jay, a young man who briefly abandoned his dream of becoming a musician, who touches each other's hearts and moves toward his dream again. The unique genre combination, which combines SF and youth romance, is a rare attempt in domestic animation, attracting hot expectations even before its release.
The teaser poster released this time is centered on the warm gaze of the two characters looking at each other under the pink sunset, and it catches the eye with a visual that coexists with future scenery and analog sensibility. The background-looking turntable, LP edition, and the sky scattered with twinkling stars convey the concept of the work named 'Retro Cyber Funk'.
The copy on the poster "Don't forget, there's always one person in the universe who's rooting for you" leaves a warm aftertaste, emphasizing a connected heart even if it's far away, and a belief in dreams and love.
The original Netflix film 'This Star Needs' will be released worldwide on May 30.
