`Substance' is the best screenplay award winner at the 2023 Cannes Film Festival and a top-notch sweep of the Golden Globe Award for Best Actress, the Screen Actors Guild Award, and the Critics' Choice Awards. Acclaimed the `Best Crazy Movie of the Year' by capturing both critics and audiences around the world, it is considered a non-stop blood thriller with 'I' and 'Better Me' and a masterpiece of the body horror genre.
In this work, Demi Moore was praised for peaking in her 30-year acting career, portraying her obsession and madness for youth, breaking down into an actor who once won an Academy Award but was pushed back in time. Margaret Qualley played the young self 'Elizabeth's 'Su', born through drugs, and raised the immersion of the play with her enthusiastic performance without sparing her body.
In particular, this work drew attention as a stage set that was entirely made by hand without relying on CG. Space that symbolically expresses Elizabeth's psychology, such as apartments, bathrooms, and broadcasting stations, dramatically reveals the inner side of the character through sensuous mise-en-scène. The rapidly escalating narrative with the appearance of the young self 'Su' will give viewers a viewing experience like never before.
The well-made psychological thriller 'Substance' will be released exclusively on Disney+ on May 2.
