"The Tyrant's Chef" is a fantasy historical drama in which French chef Yeon Ji-young, who was active in Hyundai, time-slips into the Joseon Dynasty and faces the worst tyrant of the time, Lee Heon. Based on a popular web novel, director Jang Tae-yu, who proved his historical drama directing skills with 'My Love from the Star' and 'Deep Root Tree', took the megaphone.
Lim Yoon-ah plays the role of Yeon Ji-young, a chef with skillful cooking skills and pulpit, and Lee Chae-min plays Lee Hun, a king of the military who has absolute power. In the released photo, Im Yoon-ah, who was immersed in cooking in front of the fire in her cooking suit, and Lee Chae-min, who sat on the throne with her acupuncture loose, contrasted sharply, creating a strange tension.
Director Jang Tae-yu, who directed the movie, said, "A different time-slip romance where gourmet and emotion, power and survival intersect" and "The unexpected synergy between the chef and the tyrant will be the point to watch.""
Beyond simple romance, the drama will present a variety of narratives centered on appetizing fusion court cuisine, court martial arts for survival, and the process of change by a tyrant and sensual chef who has lost his emotions.
The first meeting of the two actors is also drawing attention. Lim Yoon-ah is expected to add another color to her role as a chef as she has built a solid filmography between romance and action, and Lee Chae-min is noted as a rising star who has gradually expanded her position since her debut.
The Tyrant's Chef will premiere on tvN in the second half of this year.
