JTBC Launches Friday Drama Series, Expanding Weekend Lineup with Star-Studded Titles

JTBC will run two weekend drama titles from the second half of this year.

JTBC will launch a double-weekend drama system from Friday to Saturday dramas at 8:50 p.m. every Friday evening from July.

JTBC's Saturday-Sunday Drama, which continues to be popular with the lineup of `Trust and Watch,' will be filled with weekend attractions, with the two consecutive episodes airing on Friday evening.

The first batter of the "Friday Series" is "Good Man" starring Lee Dong-wook and Lee Sung-kyung (played by Kim Un-kyung and Kim Hyo-seok, directed by Song Hae-sung and Park Hong-soo). The emotional noir of Park Seok-cheol (Lee Dong-wook), who is the eldest son of the three generations of thugs and has an unexpected pure heart, and his first love Kang Mi-young (Lee Sung-kyung), who dreams of becoming a singer, unfolds.

Song Joong-ki, who turned into a "Florist," and Chun Woo-hee, who plays unique characters in each work, will also come to the Friday series with "My Youth" (played by Park Si-hyun, directed by Lee Sang-yeop and Ko Hye-jin).

Luxury actor Seo Hyun-jin's 「Love Me" (played by Park Eun-young and Park Hee-kwon, directed by Cho Young-min), which gives viewers an overwhelming sense of immersion, is also listed in the lineup of"Friday Series" to raise expectations. The delicate psychological description and the unusual heavy melodrama of an ordinary family will convey a deep resonance.

The line-up of JTBC's Saturday and Sunday dramas is still powerful. Following the first half of 'Occy Mrs. ', 'Art of Negotiation', and 'Beautiful Than Heaven', which were presented in the first half of the year, the comic action youth investigation drama 'Good Boy' will appear this weekend, starring Park Bo-gum and Kim So-hyun.

There are also new works that encompass the genre and generation waiting for the 'Squire: Lawyers Who Dream of becoming a Lawyer' (hereinafter referred to as 'Squire'), '100 Memories''Head Kim's Story of a Large Company in Seoul'' (hereinafter referred to as 'Chief Kim's Story'Waiting for Gyeongdo'.

Among them, 'Esquire' (played by Park Mi-hyun, directed by Kim Jae-hong) is expected to open a new horizon in the legal drama through a court hearing that cannot be relieved even for a moment. It depicts the process of Lee Jin-wook as Yoon Seok-hoon, an elite lawyer who is cool-headed but confident in his skills, and Jeong Chae-yeon as Kang Hyo-min, a new lawyer who is just and courageous but not good at social life, collide and grow into a true lawyer. The unpredictable chemistry in the push-and-pull, which is created by two polar characters colliding with each other, will draw viewers' immersion.

Set in the 1980s, '100 Memories' (played by Yang Hee-seung, directed by Kim Sang-ho) is an affectionate triangular romance drawn by Kim Da-mi and Shin Ye-eun, who played as bus guides, and Heo Nam-joon. The warm and affectionate retro sensibility of that time breathes calm warmth deep into the heart.

The news of Ryu Seung-ryong's appearance in "100 million viewers" is also drawing attention. It is a story about a middle-aged man who lost everything he thought was valuable in an instant who discovers his true self after a long journey, drawing sympathy by depicting today's crying and smiling of modern office workers and family members.

At the end of the year, Park Seo-joon, director Lim Hyun-wook, and writer Yoo Young-ah will air 'Waiting for Gyeongdo' (played by Yoo Young-ah, directed by Lim Hyun-wook). The meeting between Park Seo-joon and rising newcomer Won Ji-an is drawing attention. Sensuous production and in-depth scripts are added to this, heralding all-time box office synergy.

In the first half of 2025, JTBC's Saturday-Sunday drama viewership rose 56% year-on-year, showing a sharp rise (Nilson Korea, Seoul metropolitan area 2049, January-April). JTBC, which has established itself as a drama kingdom with overwhelming hits such as 'The World of the Married', 'The Youngest Son of the Congregation', 'Dr. Cha Jung-sook' and 'Occy Lady', plans to take another leap through the programming of this Friday series. JTBC is expected to increase JTBC's grip on the weekend in prime time with the new Friday series"We will constantly think and try various works across genres so that viewers can enjoy the fun of the weekend with full attractions" he explained.

JTBC's Friday series airs two consecutive episodes every Friday at 8:50 p.m. (from the second half of the year), and Saturday dramas are broadcast every Saturday night at 10:40 p.m. and Sunday night at 10:30 p.m.
