Ryu Seung-ryong Earns Praise for Complex Role in 'The Dream Life of Mr. Kim'

In JTBC's Saturday-Sunday drama 「The Story of Manager Kim who works at a large company in Seoul」, Ryu Seung-ryong's character 'Kim Nak-su' continues to receive favorable reviews.

Although Kim Nak-su looks like a successful man in his 50s, he convincingly shows the crisis of demotion, anxiety in middle-aged people who are shaken by changes in the company, and anxiety to keep his place with detailed expressions, eyes, and emotional lines. It is said that the anger that he burst in the extreme confrontation with Baek Sang-moo (Yoo Seung-mok) also reflected the reality and deeply immersed viewers.

However, Kim Nak-su also has the image of a stubborn and authoritative boss at the same time. Although he does not keep up with the trend of the times by giving old-fashioned advice to his subordinates, Ryu Seung-ryong cheerfully portrayed the bravado, loneliness, and fear of change behind it, creating an unlikable humanity. The appearance of pretending to be stern, being disgraced, denying reality, and running in the rain maximizes the charm of black comedy and leaves a bitter aftertaste.

Ryu Seung-ryong is completely immersed in 'Kim Nak-su' and vividly brings to life the complex inner side as a middle-aged head of the era, a kkondae-sang, and the main character of his life. It is highly praised for delivering comicality, authenticity, and reality at the same time and deeply sympathizing and resonating with viewers. The turning point is the story of Manager Kim, and expectations are high for the story of Kim Nak-soo that Ryu Seung-ryong will draw.

Meanwhile, JTBC's Saturday-Sunday drama 「The Story of Manager Kim who works at a large company in Seoul」 airs every Saturday at 10:40 p.m. and Sunday at 10:30 p.m.
