Group ILLIT's 'Almond Chocolate' has successfully registered another reverse on Japan's main charts. It is noteworthy that it shows the characteristics of popular songs by word of mouth, which rise over time.

According to its agency, Billifrap, ILLIT's 'Almond Chocolate' ranked sixth in the latest Apple Music Japan 's Weekly Song Rankings released on the 9th (March 31st to April 6th), breaking the K-pop group's first Japanese original song ranking based on this chart. It jumped two notches from the previous week. 'Almond Chocolate', which was released on February 14, entered the chart for the first time at 56th place (March 10-16) and has been steadily on the rise after ranking 23rd (March 17-23) and 8th (March 24-30).

It ranked 10th in the "Weekly Streaming Rankings" released on the same day. This is the best K-pop girl group song released so far this year. The song's previous Oricon 'Weekly Streaming Rankings' ranked 27th (March 17-23) and 12th (March 24-30).

On Billboard Japan 'Weekly Streaming Songs' and 'Hot 100', it was ranked 60th (March 19) side by side and ranked 10th and 13th on the latest charts (April 9), respectively. It was also ranked 21st on the YouTube Music Japan 'Weekly Popular Songs' chart (April 4). It is an unusual popular song considering that there is no music video with performance. I don't like the Japanese movie `Almond Chocolate" just by looking at the faceAs the theme song of ', only a special film was released.

The lovely aspect of ILLIT and the lyricism of 'Almond Chocolate' are considered popular factors. The song's charm doubled as the lyrics, which compare feelings for a person you like to a sweet and bitter almond chocolate, harmonized with the faint melody and the ILLIT delicately expressed it. In fact, 'Almond Chocolate' entered the US Billboard 'LyricFind Global' chart at No. 9 (April 12), which determines the ranking of the songs that searched the most for lyrics.

The short-form challenge also contributed to the popularity of the music source. ILLIT's version of 'Almond Chocolate (Sped Up)" was the top 10 artist on TikTok's Japan weekly music charts for the third week in a row. As of April 9, the song was used in about 47,000 videos on TikTok. It deserves to be called a ILLIT song of the 'short-form powerhouse'.
