Ok Ja-yeon's agency Media LabSiso announced on the 3rd that `Ok Ja-yeon is cast in 'D-Effect' and plays Connie.'
'The Effect' is a play by renowned British playwright Lucy Prebble, which premiered at the British National Theatre in London in 2012. The work, which will open in June, will feature four characters, Connie and Tristan, who participated in a clinical trial of antidepressants, and Dr. Rona James and Toby Seeley, who oversee the test, about "love and sadness". It explores the nature of human emotions through the setting of drug testing, and at the same time asks questions about the choices we make in the face of those confusing emotions.
In this Korean performance of 'The Effect', with the permission of the original author, he attempted to cast a gender banding for the first time in the world. 'Gender banding' means not just casting a different gender in the character in the work, but also completely changing the gender of some of the characters and refreshing the content accordingly. The role of Connie, played by Ok Ja-yeon, is a rational psychology student who participated in clinical trials of antidepressants.
Ok Ja-yeon first took the stage in 2012 with 'Guest'. Since then, he has been active in various plays, including 'Romeo and Juliet', 'Hamlet Abata', 'Walking around'Hidden White Flowers'. As it is the first time in about two years that this 'The Effect' is a work in 2023 'In the midst of such a night, in the field', expectations are high on how it will work with the audience.
Meanwhile, 'The Effect' will be performed at Interpark Seogyeong Square Scone Hall 2 from June 10 to August 31.
