Lee Jae-po (65), who turned into a journalist after working as a comedian and actor, was fined for fraud in the 20 million won range.

On the 3rd, the Incheon District Court (Judge Park Jong-woong of the 16th Criminal Chamber) sentenced Lee Jae-po, who was accused of fraud, to a fine of 10 million won.

On November 22, 2020, Lee Jae-po was put on trial on charges of taking money by asking his acquaintance, B, whom he had known at a pension in Ganghwa-do, Incheon, to "My wife runs a clothing store, and it is difficult in the aftermath of COVID-19" and "Please lend me 20 million won because I have to raise funds urgently."

However, in reality, it was planned to use it for personal purposes unrelated to the operation of clothing stores, and it was found that it owed a large amount of debt to the financial sector at the time. The court judged that there was no intention or ability to repay the money.

Lee Jae-po's lover, C, was also indicted on charges of participating in the crime, but the court concluded that Lee Jae-po committed the crime alone. The court said "The nature of the crime is not good in light of the circumstances and methods of the crime. Especially, I was not self-reflected even though I was in the middle of a criminal offenseWhile pointing out that "an agreement has been reached with the victim's side, there is no similar criminal record." was reflected in the sentencing," it said.

Lee Jae-po debuted in the entertainment industry in 1983 when she entered the MBC Gag Contest. He also became an actor by appearing in dramas 'Fourth Republic', 'Leopard' of Kilimanjaro', 'Eunsil', and 'The Age of Wild Men'. Since 2006, he has turned to journalism and worked as a political reporter. In 2014, he ran as an independent in the Gimpo parliamentary by-election.

Controversy arose during the journalist's activities. In 2016, he was indicted on charges of writing false stories about actresses to a reporter of the Internet newspaper, where he was the editor-in-chief, and served a year and a half in prison in an appeals court in 2018. At the time, the court said "It maliciously used the power of the media to cause confusion in society" and "Strict punishment is needed to prevent repeat crimes"
