The 2024 Sustainable Management Report focuses on four key issues: ▶Ethical Management and Compliance ▶Creating a Healthy and Flexible Working Environment ▶Information Security and Personal Information Protection ▶Improving Customer (Fan) Experience. Hive selected agendas with high environmental and social impacts and financial impacts as key issues through a dual materiality assessment reflecting stakeholder opinions.
Last year, Hive established a compliance office to strengthen governance and reorganized systems for compliance and ethics management, such as establishing an ethics charter and a code of ethics. The purpose is to increase the transparency and reliability of corporate operations.
The compliance office, established under the Hive CLO (Chief Legal Officer), is responsible for internal audit, compliance, and regulation management. The Code of Ethics contained Hive's ethical management philosophy and will, and the Code of Ethics included specific criteria for judgment necessary for the practice of the Code of Ethics, respect for stakeholders, and the principles of action that the company and its members should pursue, such as fulfilling social responsibility.
Hive has also strengthened its information security and personal information protection management system. Last year, Weverse Company obtained ISO 27001 certification, and HiveIM received ISMS certification. Following Hive's acquisition of ISO 27001, an international standard in 2023, subsidiaries are also trying to establish a management system to protect customers' privacy and information assets.
In order to create a healthy and flexible working environment, Hive carried out various activities such as ▶ tea-time meetings to promote communication between members and CEOs ▶ checking and upgrading the welfare system through a member satisfaction survey ▶ introducing the first in-house member of the entertainment company ▶ inviting the family members. Hive plans to continuously improve the working environment and create an organizational culture with active communication and collaboration.
Hive focused on improving the customer experience that covers both online and offline last year. Convenience facilities for visitors such as service screens, rest areas, and tents have been expanded at the concert hall. The pop-up store introduced a pre-booking system, improved waiting space, and provided menus developed in collaboration with local cafes to enhance the fan experience. Global superfan platform Weverse has expanded its streaming service to showcases, comeback shows, and festivals in addition to existing concerts for users around the world.
In addition, Hive pushed for a Weverse album standardization project that focuses on excluding non-recyclable coating processing and using sustainable tributary materials. The resulting Weverse album standardization guide was applied to the Hive Music Group APAC Artist Album.
This sustainability management report also introduced measures and achievements to protect creative rights and interests, including creators and creations. Hive has established an integrated reporting site 'HYBE Protect' to systematically respond to illegal activities that harm artists' rights, such as malicious posts, personal information dissemination, privacy and copyright infringement. It has also actively eradicated artist IP (intellectual property rights) infringement. Last year, Hive cracked down on more than 3,400 illegal counterfeit products imported from abroad in cooperation with customs, uncovered more than 290,000 illegal products from domestic and foreign shopping malls, and sanctioned more than 10,000 unauthorized distribution of artist-paid videos.
Hive's community contribution activities include Seventeen's appointment of UNESCO's first youth ambassador for Youth and Hive's donation to restore the national heritage affected by forest fires. Seventeen was appointed as UNESCO's first youth goodwill ambassador and the first K-pop artist to be a UNESCO goodwill ambassador for the 'Going Together' campaign to improve the educational environment for children and adolescents. In addition, Hive donated 1 billion won to restore national heritage damaged by large wildfires in South Gyeongsang and North Gyeongsang Province in March this year, fulfilling its social responsibility as a content company.
This is the third time Hive has published a sustainability management report. Hive has set the goal of sustainable management as the standard of ▶ the future of the entertainment industry ▶ the future of the entertainment industry created with the community to enrich the lifestyle of ▶ fans.
Hive Sustainable Management Committee is dedicated to a sustainable future with all stakeholders, including fans, members, partners, investors, and communities, reflecting on its vision of sustainable entertainment on the 20th anniversary of its foundation in 2025"We will continue to faithfully disclose the results of our sustainable management activities and strive to improve them in a humble manner." he said.
