YG Entertainment executive producer Yang Hyun-suk expressed his position while the Supreme Court confirmed the suspended sentence of prison time.
Through YG Entertainment on the 18th, Yang Hyun-seok said, `I regret the Supreme Court ruling, but I humbly accept it.''I will focus on my original work with a more careful and responsible attitude from now on," he said.
Yang Hyun-suk was acquitted in both the first and second trials of charges of `threatening retaliation,' but a lengthy legal debate ensued as the prosecution changed the indictment to a new charge of `forced interview' during the second trial"In the end, after a five-year and eight-month trial, the Supreme Court's final decision was made."
On the same day, the Supreme Court's first division (Chief Justice Ma Yong-joo) confirmed the lower court's sentence of six months in prison and one year of probation for Yang Hyun-seok, who was indicted on charges of violating the law on aggravated punishment for certain crimes (retaliation threats and forced interviews).
Yang Hyun-seok was put on trial in 2016 on charges of trying to appease the investigation by conciliating and intimidating public interest reporter A in connection with allegations of drug administration by former YG group icon B.I. (Kim Han-bin).
The prosecution initially indicted Yang Hyun-suk on charges of retaliatory intimidation, but when the first trial ruled him not guilty, the second trial added the charge of forcing an interview as a preliminary indictment. As a result, the trial lasted nearly six years, and the case was concluded when the Supreme Court confirmed the ruling on the day.
▶ Hereinafter, the official position on the Yang Hyun-seok ruling
I regret the Supreme Court's ruling, but I humbly accept it.
Both the first and second trials were acquitted of the first prosecution of the crime of threatening retaliation, but in the course of the second trial, the prosecution changed the prosecution's charge to the unfamiliar crime of forcing an interview, which led to the Supreme Court's final ruling after a long legal debate that lasted five years and eight months.
In the future, I will work hard on my original work with a more careful and responsible attitude.
Thank you.
