According to the legal community on the 25th, the Supreme Court dismissed the appeal of Yoo Young-jae, who was arrested and charged with violating the Special Act on the Punishment of Sexual Violence Crimes (forced harassment by relatives), and confirmed the original ruling.
Yoo Young-jae remarried actor Sunwoo Eun-sook in October 2022, but was accused of forcibly molesting Sunwoo's biological sister five times from March to October 2023. After this incident, he divorced Sunwoo Eun-sook in April last year.
The first trial court ordered Yoo Young-jae to be sentenced to two and a half years in prison, complete a 40-hour sexual violence treatment program, and restrict employment of five years at institutions related to children, adolescents, and the disabled.
Since then, both Yoo Young-jae and the prosecution have appealed for unfair sentencing, but in July, the Suwon High Court's 2-3 Criminal Department rejected the appeal and maintained the original sentence.
In the appeal trial, Yoo Young-jae "I lacked awareness of my intimacy and sexual standards. I'm sorry. "I sincerely apologize to the victim." He appealed for leniency, but it was not accepted.
When the Supreme Court finalized the original ruling on the same day, Yoo Young-jae was inevitably sentenced to prison.
Yoo Young-jae married Sunwoo Eun-sook in 2022, but divorced in a year and a half. Sunwoo Eun-sook later filed a lawsuit to cancel the marriage, saying Yoo Young-jae hid his common-law relationship and got married, but the court rejected the suit, saying there was no reason for the divorce.
