Himchan Hospital introduced a treatment for spinal compression fracture, which has recently been introduced and actively implemented through its YouTube channel section.

Spinal compression fractures are causes such as trauma or osteoporosis, and the vertebral body (spinal bone body) is flattened like crushed and the height decreases. Unlike long limb bones, vertebrae have a cylindrical flat shape, so when an impact is applied, they are crushed as if they were pressed. Therefore, unlike common fractures, the expression compression fracture is used.

In particular, the elderly are in a state of weakened bones due to decreased bone density, so compression fractures can often occur even with a light impact. Women suffering from postmenopausal osteoporosis are more at risk. It also occurs by falling or bumping into each other in daily life.

The treatment introduced in this video is a treatment approved by the Ministry of Health and Welfare as a new medical technology for suspension of evaluation and percutaneous spinal compression fracture reinforcement using an upper and lower axis extended titanium implant. This treatment is a medical technology in which a spinal implant called SpineJack is inserted into the vertebral body to lift the compressed vertebral body and inject bone cement.

Director of Medical Center Heo Jun-young explained that "a treatment that focuses more on solving fundamental problems that enhance and restore the collapsed vertebral body along with pain relief, which is the goal of conventional spinal compression fracture treatment."

"It can be considered an effective treatment for patients with acute or subacute periods who have just been fractured, or if their vertebrae are likely to collapse due to severe osteoporosis," he added.
