In the entertainment category, Season 5 of 'SNL Korea' was named in five categories, recording the most nominations with a total of six, and season 5 of 'SNL Korea' was the only one nominated in all categories in the entertainment category. On top of that, Coupang Play's series 'Boy's Generation' that caused the 'Boy' syndrome' was also nominated for two Blue Dragon Series Awards dramas, and Coupang Play won eight nominations.
The Blue Dragon Series Awards, hosted by Sports Chosun, are the first awards ceremony in Korea for the original streaming series, marking their third anniversary this year. Season 5 of 'SNL Korea', which was overwhelmingly popular by renewing the legend episode in each episode with the appearance of special hosts and the crazy performances of the crew, topping the TV-OTT integrated non-drama hot topic survey and topping the video category. In addition to the Blue Dragon Series Awards Best Work Award, the Male Entertainer Award (Shin Dong-yup), the Female Entertainer Award (Lee Soo-ji), the New Male Entertainer Award (An Do-gyu), and the New Female Entertainer Award (Ji Ye-eun and Yoon Guy), were listed in all five categories.
Shin Dong-yup, who has led SNL Korea since season 1, once again proved his influence by being nominated for the male entertainer award every time from the 1st to the 3rd episodes of the Blue Dragon Series Awards. Lee Soo-ji, who makes any character 'Lee Soo-hwa' with her outstanding acting skills, also confirmed a certain sense of popularity. On top of that, Ji Ye-eun, who was loved for her unique MZ characters, Yoon Gai, and Ahn Do-gyu, who joined the rookie crew from season 5, are each nominated for the rookie male and female entertainment awards, raising expectations for the birth of another star.
In the Coupang Play series 'Byeongtae', Lim Si-wan, who perfectly performed the character 'Byeongtae' with his strong acting skills, and Lee Si-woo, a rookie who exuded strong charisma, were also nominated for the Blue Dragon Series Award for Best Actor and Best New Actor.
Since its release, "Boy's Generation" has been considered the best box office hit in 2023, with a 2,914% vertical increase in viewership, topping a number of charts, including Coupang Play's popular movies for seven consecutive weeks, Naver's most sought-after drama, and KinoLights' popularity rankings. Coupang Play once again proved its potential by making seven nominations for original streaming series contents (domestic dramas, entertainment) with 'SNL Korea Season 5' and 'Boy's Generation'.
