Actor Joo Hyun-young took off the clothes of the "MZ employee" and turned into a "horror YouTuber".

The press and distribution premiere of the movie 'Strange Train' was held at CGV Yongsan I'Park Mall in Ichon-dong, Yongsan-gu, Seoul on the 24th. Joo Hyun-young, actors Jeon Bae-soo, Choi Bo-min and director Tak Se-woong attended the scene.

Released on July 2, 'Stranger Train' is a mystery horror film in which Da-kyung, a horror YouTuber thirsty for views, encounters a terrible incident while digging into the secrets of Gwanglim Station, where mysterious disappearances occur one after another, and director Tak Se-woong, who directed 'Guimot', took the megaphone.




Tak said of the director's intention to direct the movie, `The attractive point of this movie is the subway space. I often use the subway, but there are moments when I feel weird whenever I get on board. "A subway is an enclosed space and a space where many unspecified people pass by. It was strange and bizarre to see people looking at their phones, wearing earphones, and being disconnected without looking at each other. I wondered what it would be like if there were ghosts or monsters in the space."

Joo Hyun-young announced her screen debut through 'Stranger Train', raising expectations from prospective audiences. He said "The first movie didn't have to be a horror genre, but thankfully the opportunity came. "I've loved horror movies since I was a child, but watching various contents has given me a lot of inspiration and my imagination," he said. "I shouldn't do that, but my parents threw my books and comic books out of the veranda of my house on a rainy day, saying, "Fear is not good for emotions."

Previously, Joo Hyun-young was much loved by viewers as an MZ employee through the series 'SNL Korea'. Playing Da-kyung, a horror YouTuber in the play, he said, `I didn't think Da-kyung was a representative character of the MZ generation. I actually enjoy watching horror YouTube channels, and they're not from the MZ generation either (lol). Apart from this, I thought I needed to know each and every process of how horror YouTubers cover, so I contacted them immediately and asked for advice. It's a little slow, but I wanted to show my new side to the audience quickly."




Tak said why he cast Joo in the role of Da-kyung "I've been a fan of Joo for a long time. When I saw him acting in 'SNL Korea' or other works, I wondered 'How about acting fearfully?' As Da-kyung is a character who leads the play, she should have a charm that can attract people. "I personally look at the actor's eyes deeply when I watch horror movies, and I thought Joo Hyun-young's eyes were deep." At first, Da-kyung was like an MZ YouTuber, but she became increasingly stained with desire as she also showed an otaku-like appearance, and I thought that would look much more attractive when played by a character who was not originally" he said.

Jeon Bae-soo played the role of the only person who knows everything about Gwanglim Station. As for how he joined the film, he said, `I'm doing a lot of dramas these days, and I originally debuted in a movie. There are not many movies being made recently, so I want to do a movie' was given a scenario of 'Strange Train' just when it occurred to me. Also, my role in the drama is Hol-Abby, but I thought I could show a different side of myself in this movie," he said.

Joo Hyun-young worked with him again following the drama `Weird Lawyer Woo Young-woo' which aired in 2022. Jeon Bae-soo cannot help but talk about Joo Hyun-young because "Weird Lawyer Woo Young" was so popular. After all, we met with a much longer breath when filming 'Strange Lawyer Woo Young-woo' than when filming 'Strange Train'. When I met him on the set, he was very friendly and I was grateful for his comfortable treatment. The director's direction is also quick to understand and smart."

Choi Bo-min plays Woo-jin, a producer who produces YouTube content with Da-kyung. Making his screen debut with Joo Hyun-young in 'Stranger Train', he said, `There were times when I felt worried and anxious while playing the character, and Bae Soo and Hyun Young helped me a lot. Thanks to the two of you, I was able to shoot the work while getting rid of a lot of pressure. And since it's my first movie, I think it's a meaningful and successful work because I wanted to shoot it more" expressed satisfaction.

Joo Hyun-young also asked the audience to look forward to her screen debut. He said, `I want you to pay attention to the acting of many actors"I also debuted on the screen through "Stranger Train", and I'm embarrassed to say that I'm the main character, but I hope you'll enjoy it warmly as I did my best," he said of the wind.
