Noh Hyun-hee is extremely chosen by her son (Sweet Home)

Actor Noh Hyun-hee presents an intense villain in the movie 'Sweet Home'.

'Sweet Home' tells the story of a mother who forces her to go beyond the top of the school and become the top in the country 'Kang Hee-soo' (played by Noh Hyun-hee) and her son 'Shin Jae-seung' (Song Seung-hyun) who has lived a life of falsifying grades under his ruthless violence. It depicts a tense psychological battle between Jae-seung, who made an extreme choice after enduring terrible abuse, and a mother who was miraculously revived by a burglary 'Baek Min-jae' (played by Kang Eun-bin).

Director Kim Hong-ik said, "This film is a work that confronts the naked face of education that our society has turned away from and the hidden violence in the home. It is a heavy theme through the genre of fantasy thriller, but I wanted to share its seriousness with a wider audience."and expressed his intention to direct.

'Sweet Home' is expected to be a unique transformation of actors who have been active in different fields. Roh Hyun-hee, a veteran actor with 33 years of experience, was cast in the role of Kang Hee-soo, the incarnation of ruthless educational zeal. Noh Hyun-hee, a former KBS open recruitment officer who played in dramas "The Love of the Chubu Tree" and musicals "42nd Street on Broadway", will delicately express the backside of extreme maternal love in this movie.

Song Seung-hyun from FT Island, a boy band, was selected as his son 'Shin Jae-seung'. Recognized for his acting skills through dramas 'Oh My Assistant' and musicals 'Jack the Ripper', he plays a complex character who appears to be the perfect son but hides his inner pain.

In addition, Kang Eun-bin, who was refined from the selected theater industry through auditions of more than 500 actors, was selected for the role of a young man who ended his protection and a burglary. Although he is a young man who has not been loved by his mother, he presents an attractive character that rehabilitates Hee-soo, who was abandoned by his son.

Park Soo-bin, the lead vocalist of the idol 'Dal Shavet', will be cast in the role of high school student 'Park Jung-yoon', who became the reason for his son's life after committing a terrible crime.

'Sweet Home' got a motif from the 2011 'Gu Dongdong High School 3 Survival Murder Case'. At that time, the incident in which a third-year high school student made an extreme choice due to excessive academic stress and mother violence shocked Korean society.

Reinterpreting the incident as a fantasy thriller, director Kim Hong-ik said, `I wanted to give you a chance to reflect on what you really need for your children and what are the conditions of a happy family" he said.

The movie conveys a social message but does not miss the genre pleasure as a tense thriller. A mother who thought she was dead will be revived by a burglary, and a psychological exhibition beyond a sealed visit will give the audience a unique sense of tension.

'Sweet Home' is being launched in more than 80 countries around the world with its domestic release. It has completed 4K filming and M&E separation work to have a technological completion optimized for entering overseas markets.

The production company Channel Mac announced its plan to conduct global distribution of 'Sweet Home', taking advantage of the successful sales of Kim Hong-ik's previous works in the Americas, Japan, Europe, the Middle East, Taiwan, the Philippines, and Australia.

An official from distributor Maru Art Center Co., Ltd. said, "We expect this work, which deals with Korea's unique educational issues but captures the shadow of universal family relationships, to gain sympathy from audiences around the world."It will open up another possibility as K-content."

Like the audience's response to the premiere of 『Sweet Home』, 『Sweet Home" is expected to be a work that presents the possibility of healing and hope while facing uncomfortable truths.

Starting with its domestic release on May 29, "Sweet Home" plans to meet audiences at various theaters, including independent and artistic movie theaters nationwide. In particular, it is said to lead a new publicity method that will lead the community's screening of Ojakgyo Audience Hong Bo-dan. Ojakgyo Audience Hong Bo-dan is an example of a community screening in which people who want to watch movies voluntarily open the doors of movie theaters, and it is expected to be a new way of promoting as it includes outstanding marketers. Sung Ji-hee, who leads Ojakgyo Audience Hong Bo-dan, was in 2021 during the COVID-19 period. When audiences turned away from the theater, director Kim Hong-ik's film 'CCTV' made the first case of promoting a movie using live commerce.

The production team is also planning special screenings and discussions for parents and students interested in educational issues, and expressed its ambition to draw social discourse on Korean education and the reality of families through movies.

Director Kim Hong-ik's new work 'Sweet Home' is a fantasy thriller based on the motif of the 2011 'Gu-dong High School Senior Surviving Murder Incident' that delicately depicts the tragedy caused by extreme educational fervor and domestic violence in Korean society. Director Kim Hong-ik has directed films 'CCTV' (2021, starring Kwak Do-won, Kim Dan-mi) and 'immortal goddess' (2022, starring Jae-hee, Lee Ju-yeon, Wang Ji-won, and Park Hee-jin), which have solved extreme confrontations in reality with fantasy and horror.
