Jang Won-young’s Cyberbully Appeals Court Ruling Again

The Taldeok camp, which has been bothering the group IVE Jang Won-young, still has not reflected on it.

On the 18th, the Taldeok concentration camp filed an appeal against Jang Won-young's agency Starship Entertainment (hereinafter referred to as Starship).

Taldeok concentration camp is a cyberrekar that has spread malicious rumors about numerous K-pop stars such as Jang Won-young, BTS V Jung-kook, and Kang Daniel. In particular, Jang Won-young has created a lot of false facts such as romantic relationships and bullying.

In response, Starship secured meaningful information from Google headquarters in the U.S. to identify the identity of the Taldeok concentration camp through a request for information disclosure in 2023 and filed a 100 million won damages lawsuit. Jang Won-young also filed a lawsuit for damages worth 100 million won against the Taldeok concentration camp.

In both cases, the plaintiff was ruled in favor, and the Taldeok concentration camp appealed. In particular, the Taldeok concentration camp was not recognized as a false fact during the trial and was for the purpose of the public interest, and 100 million won in damages was excessive, causing public outrage by appealing for invasion of privacy.

The appeals court ruled that the Taldeok concentration camp should pay 50 million won to Jang Won-young and 50 million won to Starship. However, the Taldeok concentration camp appealed again against the court's ruling to compensate Starship for 50 million won and delayed interest.

In addition to Jang Won-young and Starship, the Taldeok concentration camp has been sued by Kang Daniel, Espa, EXO, and BTS. So far, the amount of compensation that the Taldeok concentration camp has to pay to the victims amounts to 416 million won.

Separately, the Taldeok concentration camp also received a criminal complaint from Starship. Starship sued the Taldeok concentration camp on charges of defamation and insults under the Act on Promotion of Information and Communication Network Utilization and Information Protection. In January, the court ordered the Taldeok concentration camp to impose two years in prison, three years of probation, 120 hours of community service, a fine of 2 million won, and 210 million won in criminal proceeds. The prosecution appealed, saying the sentence was too small.
