On July 25, 2018, announcer Jeong Mi-hong passed away after a long battle with lung cancer.
Announcer Jung Mi-hong, who was diagnosed with lung cancer in January 2015, was hospitalized in February when cancer cells spread to the brain, but eventually separated from his family as his condition worsened.
The late Jung Mi-hong, a graduate of Ewha Womans University's law department and who passed the 10th KBS open recruitment in 1982, was loved as a star announcer, hosting '9 News' and serving as the main MC for the 1988 Summer Olympics broadcast in Seoul. Later, he entered politics and was active as a conservative.

Jeong Mi-hong's husband, international lawyer Tim Trinka, told a media outlet that `My wife, my love, Jeong Mi-hong, was a great man who led a great life. (Jung Mi-hong) has always thought deeply about his beliefs and his country. And I've always done the right thing."
