G-Dragon Brings Big Laughs on 'No-laughing Birthday Party'

Singer G-DRAGON delivered intense laughs with his appearance on “Don’t Laugh Birthday Party.”

At 5 p.m. on the 18th, Yoo Byung-jae’s YouTube channel released “Don’t Laugh: G-DRAGON’s Birthday Party.” The video—teased last month on Yoo’s social media—exploded on release, topping 1.9 million views in just 14 hours.

In the clip, G-DRAGON drew all eyes the moment he arrived, sporting red-framed glasses, a blue shirt, and red pants—an outfit that felt flashy yet relaxed, befitting the birthday star.

A colorful guest list turned up to celebrate, including host Yoo Byung-jae, comedian Kim Yong-myeong, mixed martial artist Choi Hong-man, makeup artist RISABAE (Lee Sa-bae), and world-class beatboxer WING, among others.

A barrage of G-DRAGON memes took center stage and kept the laughs coming. Kicking things off with a “Taeyang meme,” Yoo introduced him with, “Everyone, isn’t my friend cool? My friend’s so ‘crooked,’ crooked,” nodding to G-DRAGON’s hit “Crooked.” Kim Yong-myeong scored a big laugh by riffing on this summer’s viral line—“Stop talking and set the AC to power-cooling!”—and cleverly tying it to G-DRAGON’s song “POWER,” cracking up GD and everyone on set.

The surprise MVP was Yoo I-jin, nicknamed “Car, the garden’s son,” whose perfectly timed, harmless humor and adorable reactions disarmed viewers and “hard-carried” the room.

Buoyed by the guests’ antics, G-DRAGON fought to keep a straight face from entrance to exit, adding to the hilarity. He summed up the party by saying, “I had fun. I couldn’t laugh, but I had fun,” and even while blowing out the candles, he kept the try-not-to-laugh challenge going—making everyone grin from ear to ear.

Fans who joined the “don’t-laugh birthday” online chimed in across social platforms and communities: “It’s GD’s birthday, but we got the present—thank you,” “GD holding back laughs from the entrance was the funniest,” “All those memes—no way to keep a straight face from the front row at home,” “Smiled for the entire 22 minutes,” and “From entrance to exit—iconic.”

Meanwhile, G-DRAGON is currently staging his third world tour, G-DRAGON 2025 WORLD TOUR [Ubermensch], which began in Korea. He has completed shows in 11 cities so far and will continue with dates in the United States—Newark on August 22–23, then Las Vegas and Los Angeles—followed by Paris, France.

Alongside the tour, a media exhibition is also traveling. G-DRAGON MEDIA EXHIBITION: Ubermensch, which translates the “Ubermensch” theme of his third studio album into digital media art, has wrapped in Seoul, Tokyo, and Taiwan, and is open in Hong Kong through September 7, with an Osaka run from August 30 to September 15.
