On September 4, 2018, Lee Wang-pyo passed away from biliary tract cancer. He was 64.
The late Lee Wang-pyo, who was diagnosed with stage 3 biliary tract cancer in 2013, underwent three operations and once showed improvement, but eventually passed away as the cancer recurred.
The late Lee Wang-pyo overcame cancer three times, but as the cancer recurred again, he closed his eyes at an early age.

At that time, the bereaved family said Lee Dong-woo visited the hospital room in person, but only thanked Lee Wang-pyo for not being able to recover his eyesight through the transplant he decided to do. The two met five years ago. After being diagnosed with biliary tract cancer, he wrote a suicide note ahead of treatment and surgery. It was Lee Wang-pyo's wife, who was an ethnic Korean in Japan, who kept his side through a difficult illness. The two, who met for the first time through the introduction of an acquaintance, fell in love at first sight and always showed off their golden beads like newlyweds. In particular, Lee Wang-pyo was also a cute husband who presented his wife with a teddy bear basket every anniversary.
The wife "I couldn't believe it. I was so heartbroken that a healthy person suddenly hurt. I thought I'd get through it. After I was discharged from the hospital, I worked hard to make delicious food" he said.
Lee Wang-pyo said "It's a dangerous surgery and there's a chance of dying, so I thought about the end. I wrote a suicide note for my wife the day before the surgery. Every time I wrote down a few words, I cried, so I couldn't write them properly."
Lee Wang-pyo, who overcame biliary tract cancer, has been active in wrestling and broadcasting since then. He even pushed for a retirement game in 2015 after turning 60. However, Lee Wang-pyo was unable to enter the ring due to his deteriorating health and had a retirement ceremony.
