On the 3rd, the Seoul Western District Court's Criminal Chamber 1 (Director Park Ji-won) sentenced a 37-year-old man, identified only by his surname Jeong, to two years in prison on charges of theft and nightly home invasion.
Chung was accused of breaking into Park Na-rae's home in Yongsan-gu, Seoul on April 4, stealing tens of millions of won worth of money and goods, and running away. Jeong said he broke into the house at the time of the crime without knowing that it was Park Na-rae's house.
The court said that the defendant admitted the prosecution and expressed his intention to turn himself in to the Seoul Yongsan Police Station, and that the money and goods were returned to the victim, but considered that the defendant had a similar criminal record, committed a crime during the probation period, that the damaged goods were expensive, and that the victim was making a severe petition for punishment," he said, explaining the reason for his sentencing.
A and B, who were indicted on charges of acquiring stolen property by handing over stolen property to Jeong, were also fined 2 million won and 3 million won, respectively.
