A, the owner of a rental car who extorted money under the pretext of a video of a male and female idol couple's private life, was sentenced to probation by the court.

According to the legal community on the 18th, Judge Gong Woo-jin of the 14th Criminal Chamber of the Incheon District Court sentenced A, who was charged with racketeering, to eight months in prison and suspended for two years, and ordered 120 hours of community service.

In February last year, A rented a van vehicle to a female idol member B through a rental car company he runs. However, while checking the black box after receiving the vehicle back, I found a video showing B touching C, a male idol group member, in the back of the vehicle.

Afterwards, A threatened B using this as an excuse. Mr. A told Mr. B "What did you do in the back of the car yesterday? Isn't that too much?" "It cost 47 million won to buy a car. Give me half of it for now."That's a real-time recording. I just texted him all the way to the end and asked for money.

Mr. B, who was scared, was found to have transferred a total of 9,793,000 won three times. It turned out that A continued to make additional threats even after receiving B's money.

Under the criminal law, racketeering is established when a person is threatened to gain property benefits, and can be sentenced to up to 10 years in prison or fined up to 20 million won.

The court considered that the defendant returned most of the extortion amount to the victim, acknowledging the crime and reflecting on the crime, even though it is highly likely that the defendant committed the crime during the probation period", and sentenced him to probation of his imprisonment.
