Jang Dong-yoon's second feature film 'Nuruk' was officially invited to the 'Merry Go Round' section of the 29th Bucheon International Fantastic Film Festival (BIFAN), which will be held from July 3 to 13. Following the previous work Be My Ear, Jang Dong-yoon is expanding his own movie world further based on his deep gaze and sensuous directing skills in this work.
'Nuruk' is a work that delicately unravels family conflicts and reconciliations and conflicts between tradition and modernity against the backdrop of a traditional makgeolli brewery. Darseul, the protagonist who has run a brewery with his father, emotionally depicts the inner changes he experiences in the conflict over yeast he has cherished for a long time. This work will convey a heavy resonance to the audience by deeply capturing the theme of 'reconciliation with the past' beyond simple fermentation materials.
This invitation also means a full-fledged leap forward as a feature director beyond a short for Jang Dong-yoon. In particular, the detailed description of the character psychology and elaborate mise-en-scène, which was well received in the previous work, are expected to be implemented in more depth in this film.
