Wave announced on its official website on the 1st that `The SBS real-time broadcast and VOD service will end at 9 a.m. on September 30, 2025.' As a result, re-watching major SBS dramas and entertainment shows, which have been provided by Wave, and watching real-time channels will be suspended.
However, some exceptions remain. Popular SBS-affiliated channel shows 'I'm Solo', 'I'm Solo, then Love Continues' are still available on Wave. In addition, the VOD service is only available for programs broadcast on SBS Biz (formerly SBS CNBC), SBS funE, SBS Life, and SBS Plus, and real-time broadcasting is also provided only by SBS Biz, THE K-POP, and SBS Plus channels.
Wave said "We will do our best to provide customers with a more colorful and enjoyable viewing experience in the future."At the end of the service, he said he would focus on securing differentiated content."
With this decision, Wave users are expected to undergo major changes. Some in the industry say that as Wave loses SBS, the competitiveness of the three terrestrial companies' integrated OTT will inevitably weaken. On the other hand, attention is focusing on whether Wave can try to turn around with its own original content and strengthening of overseas works.
