Showbox announced on the 11th that it has signed a strategic business cooperation contract with kt Studio Genie for joint production of the film. Attention is focusing on what new changes the alliance between the two companies will bring to the Korean film industry.

According to this agreement, the two companies will jointly invest, produce, and distribute a total of 10 commercial films over the next three years. The strategy is to revitalize the market where investment has shrunk through a new investment and production structure that jointly invests 50% of the total production cost. The two companies are expected to maximize synergy by sharing roles in their respective professional fields, especially by creating an environment where mid- and low-budget commercial films with various genres and storytelling can be actively produced and providing more opportunities for new directors and writers, which will positively affect the balanced growth of the Korean film industry.

Showbox is dedicated to domestic distribution and marketing. As a major domestic investment distributor, Showbox, which has distributed successful Korean films such as 'Farmo'(24)'Taxi Driver'(17)'Assassination(15)'Thieves(12), maximizes the market competitiveness of its works based on its distribution know-how accumulated for about 30 years and its theater network.




KT Studio Genie enhances production efficiency by incorporating AI technology into pre-visualization, which pre-visualizes major scenes. In addition, based on his experience as the largest integrated copyright holder in Korea, he will promote domestic additional copyright business and overseas sales, and will be responsible for distribution through various platforms such as IPTV and OTT.
