Artist Park Dae-sung, who became a master of ink painting with one arm and self-taught, appears in 'Neighbor Millionaire'.
In EBS 'Seo Jang-hoon's Neighborhood Millionaires (hereinafter referred to as Neighborhood Millionaires)', which will be broadcast at 9:55 p.m. on the 15th, the story of Park Dae-sung's tough yet phenomenal life and the world of his 74-year-long work will be unveiled. Park Dae-sung is the first Korean artist to hold a solo exhibition at the largest art museum in the western United States 'LACMA', drawing attention from the world's art world. Considered an influential Korean artist by Forbes, he is also famous for drawing large-scale masterpieces that are difficult to hang in most spaces. In front of his 12-meter-long painting, Seo Jang-hoon said, "I've never seen such a big painting since I was born. He can't hide his excitement, saying, "I'm a huge person, and I look small in front of this painting."
Park Dae-sung's life is truly a drama itself. Although he lost his father and his left arm in a tragic incident at the age of four, he set an unprecedented record of winning the prize at the Korea Art Exhibition, the nation's most prestigious art contest, for eight consecutive years with self-study and constant efforts. In 'Neighbor Millionaire', Park Dae-sung's terrible incident that took away one arm and his father, and his fierce life journey, which drew strong opposition from the art world for being a non-major, but silenced all doubts with his ability, are revealed in detail.
Park Dae-sung is also famous for being a writer loved by the late Chairman Lee Kun-hee. Selected as one of the leading art museums in Korea 'Exclusive 1st Painter', he was directly told by Chairman Lee Kun-hee "Respect" in recognition of his contribution to coming through fierce competition at the time. Since then, the fact that he received super-special sponsorship worth 20 million won (currently 72 million won) from Chairman Lee Kun-hee will be disclosed. The backstory of this special relationship and sponsorship can be found in more detail on EBS 'Seo Jang-hoon's Neighborhood Millionaires' on Wednesday, Oct. 15, at 9:55 p.m.
