Ryu Seung-ryong expressed his feelings about returning to the small screen after 15 years.

This is through JTBC's new Saturday-Sunday drama 'The Story of Manager Kim who works at a large company in Seoul's home' (hereinafter 'The Story of Director Kim') which will premiere on the 25th.

At the production presentation held at The Link Hotel in Guro-gu, Seoul on the afternoon of the 22nd, Ryu Seung-ryong expressed his feelings about returning to the drama after a long time, saying, `It was a drama that I wanted to come back like my hometown.'




Based on the best-selling novel of the same name, which has more than 10 million community views and 300,000 book sales, this work depicts a journey of a middle-aged man in his 50s to regain himself at a turning point in his life.

Ryu Seung-ryong first mentioned the change in the drama scene after a long time. "In the past, it used to be a daily routine to shoot overnight in the script, but now the system has improved a lot due to pre-production," he said. "I was able to read, revise, and prepare the script sufficiently, and the staff were able to film while arranging their physical strength within the 52-hour workweek law." He added that `Now, the production environment of dramas has stabilized, and conditions have been established for actors to focus on as well.'

Regarding the work, Ryu Seung-ryong said, `There is a sad expression of the times, such as the recent word 'Youngpoity', and it is a drama that depicts it in a warm and witty way.' `The most populous generation is also in their 50s, and I took it like a gift in hopes that this work would contribute to narrowing the gap between such generations.'




As for ratings goals, "the burden of ratings is different these days from what it used to be", but this work is not limited to a specific generation, but is also the past, present, and someone's future. So I think it's a drama that more people can relate to" he said. "But if you ask me for my goal, I expect double digits," he said with a smile.

Meanwhile, JTBC's new Saturday-Sunday drama 「The Story of Director Kim」 will premiere at 10:40 p.m. on the 25th.
