Director Lee Sang-il of National Treasure My Roots in Korea..interest in Kabuki culture

Director Lee Sang-il said, `My roots are Korea, but I was influenced by Japanese culture, so I made a Kabuki-based film.'

On the afternoon of the 13th, the press and distribution premiere of the Japanese movie 'National Treasure' (directed by Lee Sang-il) was held at CGV Yongsan I'Park Mall in Ichon-dong, Yongsan-gu, Seoul. Lee Sang-il, a Korean director in Japan, attended the premiere.

Director Lee Sang-il said, `My roots are Korea. However, because I was born and raised in Japan, I was influenced by Japanese culture a lot. So Kabuki is not unfamiliar. It was not difficult to be interested in this culture because I was Korean. After finishing 'Villain', I became interested in 'Onnagata (male actor playing a female role).' It might seem grotesque for a man to play a woman, but he sharpened himself and thought there was a unique mystique that they had", he explained.

A film of novelist Shuichi Yoshida's novel of the same name, 'National Treasure' is a painting of Kabuki actor's half-life until he blossomed his talent and was selected as a human national treasure. Yoshizawa Ryo, Yokohama Ryusei, Takahata Mitsuki, Terajima Shinobu, Morinana, Kurokawa Soya, Watanabe Ken, and director Lee Sang-il of 'Hula Girls'The Evil'The Unforgiven' got the megaphone. 'National Treasure', which was released in Japan on June 6, will be released in Korea on the 19th.
