At the CJ ENM Music Media Lounge 'Mnext: Worlds of Mnet Sins 2025' held in Cheongdam, Seoul on the 15th, Kim Ji-won, head of the Mnet Plus business division, said "Mnet Plus plans to upgrade its platform to content, fan communication, and global commerce"
Starting with Mnet, a music channel that means 'Music Network' in 1995, it has introduced original programs based on the novelty of illuminating various music genres and breaking prejudice for 30 years until 2025.
CJ ENM celebrates its 30th anniversary this year on Mnet and is expected to make a full-fledged leap into a global music IP powerhouse in 2025.
On this day, CJ ENM held a media lounge to explain the future of CJ ENM's music business, which will expand globally, including Mnet's Next Chapter, which will further evolve under the slogan of 'K-pop Generation Mnet', as well as music labels and K-pop platform Mnet Plus.
Business manager Kim explained the global platform Mnet Plus. Mnet Plus surpassed 27 million subscribers and 7 million monthly active users (MAU) within three years of its launch, and recorded nearly 320 million cumulative votes.
"We will continue to expand our music business ecosystem expansion model through MCS, a music-based IP ecosystem system. Mnet Plus plans to upgrade its platform based on K-pop content, communication with fans, and global commerce," said Kim.
Regarding K-pop content, he said that "K-pop video content will also prepare Mnet Plus original, Mnet streaming and VOD, additional spinoff content, performance content streaming, and VOD." As for content that expands the fan experience, he explained, "Voting and support, digital photo collection, real-time talk will be prepared." He explained, "There are not only voting that fans participate in and affect content, but also features that support artists, digital photos or content that fans can talk to."
In order to communicate with fans, we will be able to have online fan clubs, fan-only artist posts, and one-on-one chats, and will expand to various genres and colorful stars with K culture diversity. I want to meet not only singers, but also stars such as musicals, dramas, shows, and sports."
It also reported the launch of global commerce. Business manager Kim will be held under the name of "Met Plus Merch." I will connect the experience of K Culture offline commerce online. It allows customers around the world to experience K culture beyond time and space. I would like to present a special product that can only be found here. We're looking to open it first with a beta service at the end of April," he added.
Finally, the ultimate goal of Mnet Plus is "I hope Mnet Plus can be mentioned when a boy in a global country tells his friend that he is interested in K-pop". It is the first gateway to K-pop and the ultimate goal is to establish itself as an essential app."
