In May last year, Kim Ho-joong ran away from the scene after hitting a taxi while driving under the influence of alcohol on a road in Apgujeong-dong, Gangnam-gu, Seoul. Kim Ho-joong, who attended the police 17 hours after the incident, denied his crime but admitted to the crime 10 days after the accident. The police sent Kim Ho-joong to the prosecution on charges of drunk driving, but the prosecution excluded the drunk driving charge at the prosecution stage on the grounds that it was difficult to confirm the drunk driving figure.

In November last year, Kim Ho-joong issued an appeal after being sentenced to two and a half years for dangerous driving injuries and running injuries under the Specific Crime Weighted Penalty Act. During the first trial of the appeals court last month, Kim Ho-joong denied the drunken method altogether and asked for a commutation, saying, `There is an excessive part of the judgment of the lower court.'

With the second trial set to take place on the 19th, Kim Ho-joong reportedly appealed for leniency by submitting more than 100 letters of apology to the court last month. Fans are also requesting the commutation of Kim Ho-joong, receiving numerous petitions to the court. Attention is focusing on whether Kim Ho-joong and fans will appeal.
