Youn Yuh-jung Reveals Son’s Coming Out for the First Time Ahead of New Film Release

In an interview with foreign media ahead of the recent release of the Hollywood film `Marriage Wedding Banquet,' Yoon Yo-jong revealed for the first time a hidden family history of 24 years, saying `My first son is gay.'

Yoon Yo-jong, who plays the role of a gay grandmother in Hollywood's new film 'Marriage Performance', said "I heard that one of the reasons you sympathized with this character is that your son is gay. I heard that South Korea is not yet open to these issuesIt was the first public announcement of hidden family history when asked ".
Yoon Yeo-jeong expressed her affection for the character, saying, "'Korea is a very conservative country, and it is not open at all.'"

In particular, it is noteworthy that it is the first overseas film since Yoon Yo-jung won the Academy Award for Best Supporting Actress for her first American film 'Minari'.

The movie starring Yoon Yeo-jung tells the story of characters growing up in cultural identity, queer identity, and family expectations. The movie revolves around the commotion of a same-sex couple planning a fake marriage to solve a realistic problem.
When asked what is the biggest difference or change in making movies in the United States and other countries, Yoon Yo-jong said, `In Korea, I've worked in the industry for about 60 years and everyone knows me, but I was a little spoiled. They know what I like and what I don't like. I don't like to take too many takes. I don't like to do it more than three times. I asked Douglas Seok, the producer of 'Minari', to say this. `Your friend is killing me,' he quipped.
Did you keep it as three take after that?When asked ' he did. He brought me a delicious rice cake to apologize to me," he said, smiling.
`Marriage Story' is a remake of Ian's 1993 work of the same name by Korean-American director Andrew Ahn with a modern sensibility. Yoon Yeo-jung, Han Ki-chan, Lily Gladstone, Kelly Maritran and Joan Chen were featured as global projects with Hollywood and Korean actors.
Meanwhile, Yoon Yo-jong married singer Cho Young-nam in 1974 but divorced in 1987. They have two sons, and Yoon Yeo-jeong raised them alone.
