Coach Hong Sang-soo, who became a father at the age of 64, was caught in Cannes, France.

While the 78th Cannes International Film Festival is scheduled to open in the southern French city of Cannes on the afternoon of the 13th, director Hong Sang-soo, who was selected as a judge, was spotted on the hotel balcony.

On the eve of the opening ceremony, director Hong Sang-soo was caught on camera while looking down at downtown Cannes in a more upright position with a blue windbreaker jacket and a cross bag. Hong was standing on the balcony of 'Hotel Martinez', a luxury hotel in the southern French city of Cannes.




Director Hong Sang-soo was selected as a judge in the competition section of this year's Cannes Film Festival. Nine people from around the world are appointed as judges, and Korean director Hong Sang-soo was selected as one of them. Hong is the sixth Korean director or actor to participate as a judge in the competition section of the Cannes Film Festival. Earlier, directors Shin Sang-ok, Lee Chang-dong, and Park Chan-wook, as well as actors Jeon Do-yeon and Song Kang-ho, participated as judges at the festival.

The Cannes Film Festival Executive Committee introduced Hong as a prolific director who has won multiple international awards for his selection as a judge, stressing his cinematic style and relationship with Cannes. Director Hong has also announced that his films have evolved constantly while maintaining a concise and intimate atmosphere. Director Hong has a history of submitting four films in the competition section of the Cannes Film Festival and four films in the specific gaze section.

Director Hong Sang-soo's appearance in Cannes made headlines not only because of his reputation as a director but also because he recently became a late father due to his affair with actor Kim Min-hee.

Since Kim Min-hee has just given birth in her 40s and the baby is still a newborn, only director Hong Sang-soo seems to have visited Cannes to work hard as a judge.

Earlier in April, Hong Sang-soo and Kim Min-hee were seen walking with a baby born at Misa Lake Park in Hanam-si, Gyeonggi-do. Kim Min-hee showed her mother's affection by walking carefully with her son in her arms, and director Hong Sang-soo, standing next to her, smiled by putting a hat on her baby's face so that sunlight does not shine.

Kim Min-hee and Hong Sang-soo met in the 2015 movie `Right Now, Wrong Then' and admitted their affair in 2017. Kim Min-hee and director Hong Sang-soo appeared together in public for several years, effectively continuing a marital relationship for nine years, and recently Kim Min-hee gave birth to a child and became a parent.

Meanwhile, none of the Korean feature films were invited to the Cannes Film Festival. It is the first time in 26 years that a Korean feature film has not been invited to both the official and informal categories since 1999. The Cannes Film Festival is shocking because it has consistently presented Korean works since it invited director Lee Doo-yong's 'Woman Cruelty Muleya' to the remarkable eye category in 1984.

A total of 21 works will be judged in competition, including the Palme d'Or. This year's Cannes Film Festival will be chaired by French actor Jules Riette Binoche, and film figures from various countries, including director Hong Sang-soo, will participate. This year's Cannes Film Festival is expected to be even more exciting, as celebrities such as American actor Harley Berry, Indian director Fayal Kapadia, and Italian actor Alba Lorwatcher will choose the award together. The results of the award will be revealed at the ceremony, the closing ceremony, on the 24th.
