CJ ENM Global Studio Fifth Season Expands Premium Content Lineup Based on Severance's Success

Fifth Season announced on the 6th that it is planning and developing a Netflix series 'Carrie Soto Is Back' featuring world-renowned tennis star Serena Williams as an executive producer. It is based on a best-selling novel of the same name that tells the story of a legendary tennis player who has achieved several Grand Slams, and is expected from the production stage with the participation of living legend Serena Williams.
It was also decided to co-produce MGM+ original comedy series starring Laura Linney, who won two Golden Globes and four Primetime Emmy Awards, and Deb Patel, who starred in favorable films such as the movie "The Wonderful Henry Sugar Story" and "Slumdog Millionaire", also co-produced and invested in the thriller revenge drama "The Peasant" that raised expectations by announcing his participation as an actor, screenwriter and director.
The 2025 lineup, which was announced at the beginning of the year, will also be unveiled sequentially. Director Steven Kvoski and Vince Vaughan and other ultra-luxury cast films 'Nonnas' will be released exclusively on Netflix on May 9, and 'Friendship', which was well received at the SXSW Festival, will also be released in the U.S. on the same day. Continuing the lineage of premium dramas, Season 2 of 'Nine Perfect Strangers' starring Nicole Kidman will be released on Hulu in the U.S. and Amazon Prime Video outside the U.S. on May 21 and 22, respectively.
In addition, the Fifth Season has strengthened its production capabilities by recruiting talent and internal promotion. First, he hired Lauren Daichi, who planned and produced more than 20 original series from Netflix, as vice president of TV planning and production, and Sheridan Thayer, who contributed to the success of Apple TV+ 'Severance: Disconnected', the flagship production of the Fifth season, as the TV physical production director.
In the film business, Dan Guando, who collaborates with Ben Affleck, the director of 『Animals』, was appointed as the creative production vice president, and Kelly Todd, who was recognized for his ability in 30 films during the Fifth Season, was named the physical production vice president.

Meanwhile, CJ ENM announced in January that it would release more than 20 contents, including movies and documentaries, including more than seven TV series supplied to global platforms such as Netflix and Apple TV+, along with the worldwide release of 'Severance: Disconnected'.
