A mortuary for the late Lee Sang-yong was set up in Room 31 of the funeral hall of the Catholic University of Korea Seoul St. Mary's Hospital in Banpo-dong, Seocho-gu, Seoul on the afternoon of the 10th.



The late broadcaster Lee Sang-yong has died.

The coffin of the deceased was strictly observed at Seoul St. Mary's Hospital in Seocho-gu, Seoul on the morning of the 12th. The burial site was set as a forest of tranquility in Yongin, Gyeonggi-do.

Lee Sang-yong died on the 9th. He was 81. The deceased was relatively healthy enough to give a lecture on Parents' Day, but suddenly collapsed near his home while visiting the hospital due to cold symptoms, and was taken to the hospital, but he did not recover. The mortuary was set up at the funeral hall of Seoul St. Mary's Hospital on the 10th, the day after her death.




The sudden sad news left the entertainment industry in sorrow. Actor Jang Seo-hee "The person who recommended me as the MC for "Let's gather and sing" in 1983 " and " allowed me to take the first step on the show. I pray for the rest of your life." A number of junior celebrities and acquaintances also paid tribute to the deceased at the scene of the stamping.

Born in Seocheon, Chungcheongnam-do in 1944, Lee Sang-yong graduated from Daejeon High School and Korea University's Department of Forestry, finished his military service as a ROTC officer, and entered the broadcasting industry as an MC for CBS Christian Broadcasting in 1971. In 1973, he made his appearance as an assistant MC of MBC 'Enjoying Blue and White Exhibition', and since 1975, he has been loved by children under the nickname 'Mr. Popeye' since he hosted KBS 'Let's gather and sing'.

Since then, he served as an MC for MBC 'Friendship Stage' from 1989 to 1997 and comforted soldiers throughout the country, and in 1985, he served as an MC for KBS 'National Singing Contest' for about a year prior to Songhae.




He was also active in contributing to society. After helping children with heart disease operate in 1980, the Korean Children's Protection Association was established to support the surgery of more than 560 children. In 2019, he opened a YouTube channel 'Popei Lee Sang-yong TV' to continue communicating with the public.

The deceased's last official activity was to attend the 2024 MBC 'Entertainment Awards' held in January as a presenter and express his affection for the broadcast and words of blessing to his juniors.
