Prosecutors said Shin disguised an adult PC room under the so-called `Baji President' on the condition of distributing profits or conspired with an actual game room operator to mediate illegal gambling such as baccarat to users.
It turned out that the proceeds generated there, that is, the commission for taking a certain percentage of the total amount bet by gambling site users, and a certain percentage of the amount lost by betting, were taken as commissions.
Earlier, Shin was also found guilty of violating the Game Industry Promotion Act in 2021, and was fined 5 million won in 2023, and this time he was sentenced to one and a half years in prison.
The first trial court sentenced Shin to a suspended prison sentence, taking into account the fact that the profits he acquired were likely to be significant, that he had no similar criminal record except for one before the fine, and that he had been arrested and detained for a certain period of time.
In response, the prosecution appealed, saying the sentence was light, but the second trial court rejected the appeal, saying, `The reason for the appeal claimed by the prosecution seems to have already been reflected in the original trial, and there is no change in the sentencing conditions after the original ruling.'
