The Seoul Southern District Prosecutors' Office said Tuesday that it has arrested eight people including Lee on charges of violating the Capital Markets Act and indicted a total of 13 people.
They are accused of artificially boosting stock prices and pocketing about 14 billion won in unfair profits by deceiving three KOSDAQ-listed companies that they are pursuing new businesses that are favorable to them.
The share price of central high-tech materials has risen more than 10 times over the past year from 490 won to 5,860 won, and Quantapia has released false investment commitments and siphoned off an additional 6 billion won, the survey showed. After the trading was suspended, the market was manipulated by spreading rumors of the AI robot business of USIM manufacturer XCure to boost the stock price. Lee also used undisclosed information acquired during the acquisition process to buy stocks under borrowed names and earn about 100 million won in capital gains.
It was also revealed that he gave a deposit of 30 million won to a 59-year-old former prosecution investigator A for the purpose of resuming the transaction and promised 1 billion won as a success fee. Mr. A is also involved in raising funds for Chairman Lee In-kwang, the main culprit of the Lime scandal, to flee the country.
Earlier, before the news of his father-in-law's arrest was announced, Lee Seung-gi announced the news of his separation from his wife's family through a statement. He "In the meantime, a fine has been imposed on his father-in-law in a revocation trial, but he has recently been prosecuted again by an investigative agency due to similar violations. The family's trust has been undermined to a level that is difficult to recover due to this incident, and my couple wants to sever their relationship with their in-laws after a long period of thought."
Lee is also on trial for allegedly operating a KOSDAQ listed company from 2014 to 2016 and artificially inflated stock prices to sell shares and earn unfair profits. The case was found not guilty in the second trial, but was destroyed and returned to the Supreme Court last year.

When Lee Seung-ki was asked about his personal history at the movie 'extra-family' production briefing last year, he misunderstood by saying 'The family is not at fault', but what I'm saying all the time is that my wife's side is my wife's side. After getting married, my parents and my wife became independent from their in-laws and formed a family. It doesn't seem appropriate to say additionally. However, I also think that if it caused misunderstanding, I should act carefully." However, he declared that he would break up with his wife-in-law due to the prosecution of his father-in-law.
Meanwhile, Lee married Lee Da-in in 2023 and has one daughter.
