Lisa’s Met Gala Outfit Sparks Rosa Parks Controversy

May 07, 2025

The Met Gala costume of Lisa, the group Blackpink, has been embroiled in a controversy.

Lisa attended the 'Met Gala' held at the Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York on the 5th (local time). The largest fashion event and charity event in the United States, 'Met Gala', was themed 'Superfine: Tailoring Black Style' this year.

In response, Lisa showed off Louis Vuitton's pantsless look. Lisa completed her provocative styling with custom jackets and pattern stockings designed by singer and creative director Pharrell Williams.

However, foreign media such as the Daily Mail and Page Six of the U.S. criticized Lisa's outfit on the 6th.

The media reported that `Lisa wore Louis Vuitton lingerie embroidered with collages of women, one of whom looked remarkably similar to the social activist Rosa Parks.'

Social media also exploded. Netizens expressed displeasure, such as 'It's really rude to put Rosa Parks in your underwear' and 'Who said this is a good idea?' In addition, the phrase 'Rosa Parks underwear' spread rapidly on social media.

Louis Vuitton wrote in The Cut "The printing is the work of the artist Henry Taylor. He described the characters he encountered in his life as portraits. However, when asked if Rosa Parks's face was engraved on Lisa's bottom, he avoided an immediate answer, "'Henry Taylor is a writer who depicts celebrities and unknown people together.'"

Lisa's side has remained silent over the controversy.

Rosa Parks is an American black human rights activist who led the Montgomery bus boycott movement in 1955.
