According to the legal community on the 8th, the Seoul Central District Prosecutors' Office (Chief Prosecutor Eo In-sung) recently summoned Eugene Park's biological aunt A to conduct an investigation.
Eugene Park claims that A managed assets worth 5.6 billion won, including real estate and deposits in his name without permission, and used about 2.8 billion won of them arbitrarily.
He also said that A has not returned his property by designating beneficiaries as himself and his children while subscribing to pension insurance in the United States using Eugene Park's deposits.
After investigating A once, the prosecution imposed a ban on him from leaving the country, but the measure was reportedly lifted after A appointed a lawyer and expressed his intention to attend further.
Eugene Park, who graduated from the prestigious Juilliard School of Music in the United States and attracted attention as a "genius violinist", was loved in the 1990s for her performances on domestic and international stages. Mr. A, who lives in the United States, has applied for the start of adult guardianship for Eugene Park in the past. The adult guardianship system is a system in which guardians help people who lack the ability to handle normal affairs, such as the elderly with dementia or people with developmental disabilities, with legal actions and daily lives. Mr. A requested the Seoul Family Court to designate guardianship with his aunt B in 2016, and the Seoul Family Court accepted the application in June 2017 and initiated adult guardianship of Yoo Jin-bak. The center claimed that the manager secretly borrowed bonds in the name of Eugene Park and embezzled performance fees. Then, Mr. A applied for the commencement of guardianship again.
