NewJeans Adds Prominent Legal Team Ahead of Contract Dispute with ADOR

Group Newzins rearranged its display ahead of the dispute with Adore.

On the 9th, Newzins submitted an additional letter of designation of the attorney in charge in relation to the lawsuit for validation of the exclusive contract (the original lawsuit) filed by Adore. In addition, Park Hyung-nam, a lawyer representing the law firm, who served as the head of the Judicial Policy Institute after serving as a senior judge at the Seoul High Court, was additionally appointed for the appeal of the provisional injunction.

As a result, the number of Newzins' representatives increased to 14, including Sejong, a law firm that served as an existing legal representative, and Min Hee-jin, a lawyer who served as a legal representative for former CEO of Airdore.

Adore is responding by appointing Kim & Chang's law firm as its legal representative. Audor also put forward 13 lawyers, including former Constitutional Judge Kang Il-won and lawyer Cheon Ji-sung, the daughter of former Justice Minister Chun Jung-bae.

The number of lawyers does not determine the outcome of the trial, but the fact that the two sides paid hundreds of millions of fees to appoint big-name lawyers means that neither side intends to step down from the lawsuit.

In November last year, Newzins declared its independent activities, saying that the contract was terminated due to the violation of Audor's exclusive contract. In response, Adore filed a lawsuit against the members and filed an injunction against them, such as preserving the status of an agency and signing an advertising contract.

The court cited all applications for provisional injunction filed by Adore in March. As a result, Newzins' independent behavior was blocked, and Newzins filed an objection, but it was rejected. Newzins filed an appeal and suspended its activities.

In addition, at the first hearing date in April, the members emphasized once again that they had no intention of returning to the door. On the other hand, Adore said he was willing to reach an agreement.

The second date of the main lawsuit was set for June 5.
